We are constantly redefining our own perspectives, and therefore tend to write a lot about our personal experiences. Final video documentation of the installation! It went over very well and I’m super happy with the result.
The buttons are finished and everything is ready to go. Going to do my first trial install tomorrow as soon as I finish the interface! Can’t wait to see all the different bodies and stories finally come together.
Beware technology!
I have been testing how the buttons will function to advance each zone in the Flash interface. This involves connecting a 1.5v battery to an infrared LED and a mini-switch to turn it on and off. A wiimote on the other side detects the infrared light when the button is pushed and Wiimote Whiteboard software registers that detection as a mouse click.
End result: A strong visual paired with a smooth interactive experience that unveils my message through story telling and juxtaposing multiple perspectives.

I only have two narratives done right now because I’m busy refining the technology and hardware aspects of the interface (and I had to move to a different location), but finally moving along.
Six-Forty by Four-Eighty

Six-Forty by Four-Eighty is an interactive lighting installation composed of an array of magnetic, physical pixels. Individually, pixel-tiles change their color in response to touch and communicate their state to each other by using a person’s body as the conduit for information. When grouped together, the pixel-tiles create patterns and animations that can serve as a tool for customizing our physical spaces. By transposing the pixel from the confines of the screen and into the physical world, focus is drawn to the materiality of computation and new forms for design emerge.
