We are constantly redefining our own perspectives, and therefore tend to write a lot about our personal experiences. 14/04/2013: Measuring Up.
I fucking love stretch marks. I got them all over when I was on prednisone and now I’ve lost some weight they’ve crinkled and are cool textures.
I also love stretch marks, and the majority of the one’s I’ve accumulated over the years are from various drug therapies too. I’ve got very olive skin so they’re almost never this beautifully red and defined, mine are more silvery and plum, but I love the textures and puckers they leave behind.
The Nu Project is a series of honest nudes of women from all over the world. The project began in 2005 and has stayed true to the original vision: no professional models, minimal makeup and no glamour. The focus of the project has been and continues to be the subjects and their personalities, spaces, insecurities and quirks.
To date, over 150 women across North and South America have participated in the project. Without their courage, confidence and trust, none of this would have been possible. We are so thankful for their willingness to open their homes to us.

I have refrained from posting nudes because I do not wish to be sexualized without my consent. However, this body is sexualized, medicalized, invalidated, and othered by society every day without my consent.
Today I give my consent, and for me that’s a really powerful thing. Here I am reclaiming my body by displaying it, establishing my complete ownership by granting the observer temporary use and abuse of it’s image. As I post here to reframe my frame as an objet d’art, I release my grip on internalized misogyny, slut-shaming, and body hate; and free my body image from it’s cage of my bodies exterior image.
This body is beautiful, no matter how you see it.

This was a great idea for a photo shoot and I think it worked even better because I’m a plus size lady with more curves (or hills and valleys) than more ladies. :)

I don’t post a lot of photography here, but I have to make an exception for this. I thought she was made of wood at first! This is a gorgeous photograph.
I’m finally starting to feel okay about the way my thighs look: dimples and stretch marks and wiggly skin. They’re not so bad after all!
