TW: fitspo, weight loss
I generally don’t spend any time on fitspo blogs. I see images of toned bodies and messaging about what it takes to be “fit” and “healthy” and run in the opposite direction, so whatever I have to say is based on my very general understanding as an outsider who has never been a part of the community but has clicked on some random blogs and come across fitspo messaging naturally.
What you’ve said about the context being different is very true, but it makes sense that a person striving to build muscle would interpret the weight/health-related part of the message in their own way.

This example may be “good” in that it isn’t body or fat shaming and is, I imagine, meant to be taken light-heartedly - however, it is still idealizing a certain image. The body in the background is thin, white, airbrushed and sculpted. The words liken a person’s abilities to that of a super hero’s, focusing on unattainable feats and goals rather than reality.
I will never support or endorse fitspo, as I’ve already detailed a number of times and don’t feel like repeating myself. But I do find it interesting when communities and messaging overlaps and I like trying to figure out how that happens.
