WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

RBI focuses on using expressive writing, design-oriented work, photography, media, research, and community input to fuel fat positive, body acceptance, discussion, and outreach. Our goal is to redefine the way we view and think about body image, size, fat, discrimination, health, fitness, wellness, mental/chronic illness, stigma, and other related topics.

We are constantly redefining our own perspectives, and therefore tend to write a lot about our personal experiences. Many followers and contributors are living with anorexia, bulimia, body dysmorphic disorder, depression, and a variety of other body image disorders or mental illnesses, so please be respectful and remember that health applies differently to everyone. Any and all potentially triggering content will be prefaced with a trigger warning.

RBI supports all races, genders, classes, and sizes. We try our best to make this a safe space for everyone. If we are not doing our job or checking our privilege, we invite you to please inform us.

Ohhh bebe I know exactly what you’re going through and it is the absolute worst. Sigh. That desperation and all over painful itchiness can be so relentless.

I take 180mg Allegra. I really don’t know if the Allegra makes my hives go away because they come and go so randomly, but I take it anyway - taking an antihistamine every day when you get a bad flare up will help with itchiness. Takes some trial and error to find an allergy med that might help for you, or rather that was my situation.

I also have been using whipped shea butter to help moisturize and cut down on itchiness and use the Aveeno anti-itch cream with colloidal oatmeal, especially when my hands and feet flare up really bad. When I get an all-over body flare up, I love to take a cool shower to calm the red hot itchiness, coat my skin in Aveeno, put on a t-shirt and wrap up like a burrito to keep me from itching or aggravating my skin.

When something stops working - you gotta switch it up. I have so many goddamn skin conditions that I can’t even keep track of what’s working or what’s doing what. I just figure out what seems to work and stick with it until it stops, then move onto the next something.

I hope you find some relief. I haven’t had a really bad flare up in a while, I know how difficult and frustrating it can be and feel for you very much. Let me know if you need anything else or even just want to vent about it. <3
