WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

RBI focuses on using expressive writing, design-oriented work, photography, media, research, and community input to fuel fat positive, body acceptance, discussion, and outreach. Our goal is to redefine the way we view and think about body image, size, fat, discrimination, health, fitness, wellness, mental/chronic illness, stigma, and other related topics.

We are constantly redefining our own perspectives, and therefore tend to write a lot about our personal experiences. I just love your blog!! I have been working on issues of body image through my art and I wish I could feel as easy in my skin as you do. I am getting there. One day at a time. In the meantime I am working on self acceptance and society’s distortion of beauty through a new media project. www.graciekendal.wordpress.com I would love to know what you think. Thank you so much for sharing your story and inspiring me and so many others!!!

I find it so interesting how you’re using an avatar to project your insecurities, thoughts, imperfections, and questions about body image onto. I am not very familiar with Second Life, but this mixed reality you’re playing with is so great! The videos of your installations and performance art are so wonderful and I especially love that photo of you with your avatar literally projected onto your body. Very thought-provoking work. Thank you so much for submitting!!
